Website Audiences – Who is your Website Targeting?
Before you can truly start to put together your website content you must consider who your website audience is, who you are targeting?
Who is your target audience?
You should define your audience straight away in order to aim your website at the right people. Find out who your audience is, what age groups they fall into, what types of products or services will they search for and how will they find your website?
What interests your target audience?
You need to be interesting to your audience to attract their attention and get others talking about your website. In order to create good quality content, you should understand who your audience is and what type of content and style they’d be interested in.
Profiling your Audience
When you have successfully carved out your niche and you know who you are targeting, you should clearly define your audience by creating a profile of your ideal website visitor.
To define your ideal website visitor, consider the following;
- Desires (things your visitor wants, but doesn’t necessarily need)
- Values (behavior defined as ‘good’, ‘cool’ and /or ‘appropriate’ by your visitor)
- Needs (things visitors within your niche cannot be without)
- Can they afford your products or services?
- What is their level of expertise? (Explain how you are an expert in your niche and how it can be of value to them)
If you can answer all of the questions above on defining your website audience, you will be enabled to create a clear, living, breathing profile of the type of person who will be using your website. Now, speak their language and conform to their behaviour to attract the ideal customer to your website and keep them coming back for more.
