A variety of print adverts for business

Print advertising is available in a wide range of different styles and types, from takeaway menus to magazines. Each type has specific benefits over the others and most businesses would benefit from one or another. The design of print media is the most important part of an advertising campaign, if the product doesn’t attract attention then potential customers won’t pick it up and ultimately the purpose of the campaign has failed.

Leaflets

Leaflets are often used as an advertising technique to promote something new or updated, such as a special offers on products or services, new businesses etc. Many businesses choose to use leaflets over other advertising methods due to the relative ease of producing and distributing small pages rather than large booklets, folded sheets, or other forms of advertising. When designing a leaflet the main goal is to promote any products and services that are the main focus of the document – without a clear primary focus a leaflet can look disorganised and unprofessional.

Menus

Customers are more likely to keep a takeaway menu safe compared to a leaflet or flyer, whilst a leaflet is useful at portraying current offers on products and services a menu is significantly more useful at providing information for a longer period of time –  a menu isn’t likely to change on a regular basis so printing a large number at one time is a sensible business idea. Over time a menu can become a reliable form of print adverts as they are placed in a household and could encourage future purchases.

Magazines

A magazine is arguably one of the most interesting forms of print adverts. These productions are a combination of genuinely interesting content such as news articles, competitions, and updates, and advertisements for businesses of a varying nature. Magazines are a completely different alternative to standard advertising such as leaflets and flyers, more useful forms of a print advert such as takeaway menus, and offer the ability to place advertisements alongside written content, reviews, editorials etc.
