The most important thing to remember is that everyone has an email address, everyone checks their emails on a regular basis. Well at least most of us do.
2018 data shows that most people are using email – 85% of adult internet users in the the USA and Europe.
Compared against search engines email beats it by 15% and interestingly beats social media by a margin of 22%. These are certainly not small margins in the marketing industry where we get excited over 1% + conversion rate increases.
Today building your email marketing game is one of the most important ways to grow your business.
The problem is, most people don’t know how to do it right.
Today, I’m going to tell you exactly how to get started with your email marketing campaign. Even if you’ve never done it before.
Step One – Get your customers permission
The first step is to simply start building your email list. So, even if you’re not used to getting your customer email addresses you should start now. And if someone is interested in your product or service, try to get those email addresses too.
All with permission of course.
Some of the most popular methods to build your email list is to simply ask your customers or to offer something free for anyone who signs up for your email list.
Example of a recent Firefly clients method to gain email subscribers:
A gym wanted to build it’s email list and to do this, they offered a free guide on “how to stay motivated to visit the gym regularly”.
This simple benefit worked perfectly. By introducing this free guide at the gym, on social media, and by advertising it in local media – their email list blossomed from 10 subscribers to over 250! And in just one month.
Not bad at all.

Provide an incentive. Make that incentive clear and enticing for users, and just get out there and promote it. You’ll start to see results and it’ll empower you to begin utilising email marketing for your business.
Step Two: Give your list AWESOME content!
Make sure your call-to-action (CTA) is powerful, strong and makes people click. Then follow up with awesome content. Provide readers of your emails with something that’s of value to them. If you’re simply sending out an email that has no value to the reader, then expect them to either: unsubscribe or not take your next email you send seriously (hell, they might even delete your next email before even opening it). This is what you should avoid at all costs.
Provide relevant content to readers. Show them you understand their problems and you know how to solve them.
Engage your customers with quality content
When we write an email to our customers, we used to simple tell them about the great product or service we are offering this week. But it quickly became apparent that this was of little to no value to our customers, so we quickly began to provide customers with helpful advice on how to better market their business to their customers.
Just like the piece of contact you’re reading now. It’s not about us tell you that we provide awesome email marketing services ( although you know we do! ) – it’s about us telling you how email marketing can be utilised to increase your digital marketing efforts into cold hard profit for your business!
Provide your email subscribers with professional advice about your industry. You’ll be surprised how helping user people will in turn increase your business profit. People are much more willing to come to you for your products/services if you show you are an authority or expert in your industry.
