How to Print to PDF

Portable Document Format (PDF) is a widely used file type for creating, editing, and distributing files between individuals and businesses. Printing documents to PDF is an easy way of converting any document or web page to a high quality transferable format. Businesses often use PDF documents when sending and receiving important files, dealing with clients, and printing high quality files – therefore it’s important for both businesses and individuals to have the ability to print to PDF.

Microsoft Office

The majority of windows based computers have some version of Microsoft Office software installed. Printing through Microsoft Office is one of  the more simple methods of converting to PDF, it takes as little as three clicks to start the conversion process. First click the ‘Office Button’ to open the main menu, the main menu will display various options such as ‘Open’, ‘Save’, and ‘Print’. Select the print option and then click the print button; this will open the print options and allow the selected printer to be changed.

One of the main downsides to using Microsoft Office is that only files, photos, and other documents that can be opened with Office software can be successfully converted. Some file types and unusually shaped or styled photos may be impossible to import into Office and therefore impossible to convert using this technique.

Web Print to PDF Services

Another option is to use web-based services to convert files into PDF documents. A wide range of file types are supported by the most popular PDF converting services, this is one huge benefit over alternatives such as Microsoft Office and Google Chrome as a wider range of documents  can be successfully changed. Some of the most commonly used services are; PDFOnline, Online2PDF, and PDFBurger – each offer conversions of popular file types and lesser used alternatives.

Google Chrome

Chrome is the only service listed here that offers this feature for full web pages, alternatives such as web converters and Microsoft Office can effectively create PDF documents however are unable to take from webpages – used in conjunction with each other these various options allow for an incredibly wide range of types and styles.
