Facebook Profile Design – Consett Magazine – North East England – December 2012

Brief – Facebook Profile Design to promote the magazine on Facebook. The design needed to be updated on a monthly basis, plus include the logo and a relevant image from the current issue. The Facebook profile design must also captivate the audience and promote various features such as news stories and web exclusives.

The Facebook profile design was required to be used on the social media site Facbook as a business profile.

We started by researching the magazine and its content. Consett Magazine serves its local audience with monthly local articles, features, interviews and international issues. They focus on key aspects within the news that effect the local community. The magazine has a high visual impact as well as being clean and modern.

Next  we looked at the location, target market, target demographic, placement of the Facebook profile design plus the ultimate goal of the final product. The placement of the Facebook profile design was online. The target area would be the whole of Facebook, friends or friends etc. The target demographic would be people with a Facebook profile preferably in the local area who are looking for unique articles and information regarding Consett and the surrounding area. The goal of the Facebook profile design was to highlight the Facebook page and to maintain the clean aesthetics.

We had recently designed the logo for Consett Magazine so we had an existing style guide we were going to emulate. The style guide dictated we keep things minimal and clean, using the logo as a the main image and using soft backgrounds to highlight the identity.

We created a series of images for the Christmas and New Year using a soft blurred background and the use of particles to create the effect of snow. For a later issue we used an image from the front cover of the magazine. For the most recent issue we wanted to create a nice image that was seasonal too, so we used a cloud in the shape of a heart for St. Valentines Day.

We made use of typography to embolden the logo and add some depth to an otherwise 2D image.

Consett Magazine were very impressed with our designs, we are contracted to provide the images for the Facebook profile design indefinitely.
